Dior S/S 11 and Rene Gruau inspiration

 Dior S/S 11
The inspiration behind this look is taken from illustrator Rene Gruau. Gruau used glamour and sensuality in his drawings and in the beginning he was associated with International Textile whilst he was starting out, and by the 40's apart from having a friendship with Christian Dior which led to this

he had expanded to work with all the big names Balmain, Balenciaga, Givenchy, as well as advertising for Red Kiss and LIDO. If this didn't keep him busy enough he provided for Elle, Vogue and the list goes on.

S/S 11 focused on Femme Fatales of the '40's and here is a clip showing the best bits on the catwalk.

Dior achieved this look by using ' layered tulle evolves in tone from light to dark as in a painter's chromatic study, while the transparent silk organza and the brightly-coloured silk faille evoke all the intensity and range of shades found in an artist's palette of gouache colours.'http://www.dior.com/couture/en_gb/Fashion-Accessories/Woman/Haute-Couture/Inspirations/Spring-Summer-2011
