Store of the day: River Island

Usually i tend to review boutiques, catwalks and general little gems that catch my eye but i must say that today whilst i was in my local River Island i fell in love with more then the odd item.
http://www.riverisland.com/Online/

First are these absolutely gorgeous court shoes. Now i'm generally a sucker for stand out shoes i.e Irregular choice, Steve Madden as i love having shoes that need confidence to wear them, however i can see these being added to my collection very soon - say next week :). These little beauties are £55.00 (roughly $86.00) and the spikes sell it for me, with almost a Alexander McQueen vibe and due to the uniqueness of the spikes with the multi-colour print it's safe to say they won't be the next UGG boot.

I was having a nautical moment next as both these pieces have that white shorts, cocktails and lounging in the sun somewhere feel to them, although not necessarily paired together. The Navy stripe satchel is £35 ($54) and the Blue stripe bow sandals £60 ($94)

Next i noticed this lovely bandeau dress and even though my body shape may not scream sex appeal when the lumps and bumps have the attention drawn to them, but then again that's why Spanx were invented right?
Pink colour block bandeau dress £45 ($70)

The last thing i noticed was this simple yet elegant suit jacket but it drew my eye to the array of pastel items that are running in line perfectly with the seasons trends for spring.
Light Turquoise Longline Blazer £55 ($86)

So there you have it, my wardrobe picks today if i could buy up River Island

Jewellery - Danielle Stevens

Danielle launched her brand in 2002 but it was in 2005 that she hit the big leagues, when her jewellery was paired with an Oscar de la Renta gown on the cover of Town and Country Magazine.

Picture of Danielle Stevens'With four collections produced each year, the line is carried successfully in many stores nationwide, including Anthropologie and in specialty stores and boutiques like Henri Bendel, Wink in Manhattan, and Shop Intuition in Los Angeles.'http://www.daniellestevens.com/about-us

Danielle Stevens Jewelry-danielle stevens jewelry stone and gold disk drop necklace women   $120.00 Danielle Stevens Jewelry-danielle stevens jewelry chalcedony and gold disk drop necklace women$98.00
A nice simple design with the one on the left made from stone and gold discs and the one on the right made from Chalcedony and gold disks The one on the right has the edge slightly for me considering all the pastels and light colours filling the palette of the S/S 12 designs this season. Bang on trend as i'd say! x

Dior S/S 12 Catwalk

Dior is one of the designers i'm fascinated with and honestly do not think they could put a food wrong, even if they tried.
S/S 12 is already starting to look good for Dior with a sneak preview of  one of the 'Haute Couture Ateliers'ahead of their couture show looking stunning

Don't you just love Dior - yum

The floral design here is just lovely, the dress makes me think of Grace Kelly especially with the models hair like that
I love the extended leg on this model, pointing down to her tippee toes

Keeping the light floaty tops and sjirts but pairing them with these patterened pieces give you a bold statement piece but still keeping the feminine sophistication
I love the layering detail here and matched with little peep toe shoes

Fazane A/W 11/12 New, Fresh and British

I would like to thank Lois at Carrottop PR @carrottoppr and Lola @Bunnipunch for bringing Fazane to my attention, as i do like to trawl for new and upcoming designers. Then of course the added benefit of her being a brit is she's actually in reach, sad as i am sometimes not to live in LA and NY :( - however i would be flat broke 100% of the time if that happened, instead of just 80% of the time at the moment.

Fazane's entrance into fashion was at the ripe of old age of 4 as i've found she had quite a knack for turning pillwcases into barbie runway and the end result being a BA(hons) in Fashion and Clothing from Derby (for real people, not barbie's.)
http://www.notjustalabel.com/fazane?nid=40679

Wanting to then hone her skills before going solo she went to Australia where she had the priviledge of working with 'akira' and 'gwendolynne,' which is very good going for someone just finishing a degree and when she came back she worked her way up to Accounts Manager at 'High Fashion UK Ltd.'

By 2011 she felt she had the experience to release her own collections after a positive showcase in derby and so here we have the A/W 11/12 collection by Fazane. http://www.notjustalabel.com/fazane

    Hannah hoodie £109
Deborah racer vest £79 paired with Nicola black crepe wide leg jumpsuit £109, however could also be paired with Cath (see further down)
http://www.fazanemalik.co.uk/category/lookbook/winterphoto

Emma: £149 this oversized collar waistcoat is wool on the outside and silk lined inside with a black and white checkered print.
Cath: £119 silk crinkle blouse oversized of course with lovely buttoms and seamwork. This is a rare item as only 50 were made and so all come numbered and signed by the creative director. Very posh i know.
  Sabrina:£109 t-shirt dress

Sam: faux fur gillet for £199 makes me just wanna reach out and touch it, but if your the type of gal that prefers sleeves, imagine it and then search for Rebekah which goes for £250

Ann: I must say that Ann is by far my favourite piece of this collection, selling for £139.00 it's a polyamide sequinned black lace dress with an exposed zipper and jersey trim This little beauty has an exposed back without looking cheap and a way of making see through sexy without being tacky. Think back to the little trend we just had of underwear being outerwear and this almost blends the two concepts together. Now not everyone would feel as good shaking what their mamma gave them in this as others, and so for those women out there it can come with a black jersey slip to turn it into your new LBD.
Beljeet: Now you may not think it to look at this scarf but it is actually 2 metres long, and yes i do mean metres i know my metric system! The pleats will withstand the test of time as are made from polyester crepe and can be brought for £49.

I have of course only reviewed some f the cllection otherwise you would be here all night reading this, but i the perks of it being my blog is that i review my favurite pieces :)

So there you have it everyone - FAZANE  @fazane_clothing

Enjoy

Dior S/S 11 and Rene Gruau inspiration

 Dior S/S 11
The inspiration behind this look is taken from illustrator Rene Gruau. Gruau used glamour and sensuality in his drawings and in the beginning he was associated with International Textile whilst he was starting out, and by the 40's apart from having a friendship with Christian Dior which led to this
New Look Dior
he had expanded to work with all the big names Balmain, Balenciaga, Givenchy, as well as advertising for Red Kiss and LIDO. If this didn't keep him busy enough he provided for Elle, Vogue and the list goes on.

S/S 11 focused on Femme Fatales of the '40's and here is a clip showing the best bits on the catwalk.

Dior achieved this look by using ' layered tulle evolves in tone from light to dark as in a painter's chromatic study, while the transparent silk organza and the brightly-coloured silk faille evoke all the intensity and range of shades found in an artist's palette of gouache colours.'http://www.dior.com/couture/en_gb/Fashion-Accessories/Woman/Haute-Couture/Inspirations/Spring-Summer-2011
