Sinead Herlihy - Manchester Fashion Week

To take straight from the designer 'The Spring/ Summer 2013 collection from House of Herlihy is inspired by architectural elements of French colonial buildings in India, and the bright colours of the Holi festival.'

Now i have to say this was my favourite collection of the week as give me flowing fabrics and bold colours and i'm a gonner! The frustrating thing is that Sinead was in fact the Sinead that organised me coming to the event in the first place. On arriving there for the weekend i was left to my own devices and didn't really have any guidance over what to do or what/ who to include in these posts. Yes i hear you crying but you're a professional blogger who does this for a living, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I am a Sign Language Interpreter (BSL) and a mum of two and the blogging is what i do in the other minutes of the day to release my secret addiction of fashion. Manchester fashion week was my first show where i was asked to be a blogger and i had expected a bit of reassurance.

There i had been in the wings secretly fuming that i had no idea of where to focus my blog, there were no plug sockets and no wi-fi and it was only on the Wednesday that it dawned on me that Sinead was in fact 'the' Sinead whose catwalk I was about to watch.

Warning: You will fall in love with this collection so only go on http://www.houseofherlihy.com/ if you are prepared for the consequences.

The collections started with shift dresses in a range of colours, but all had that almost kaleidoscopic type of print in one way or another. Some revolved arumd architectural structures and others had a flower print style.

I have to be honest though as that's the only way i know how to be, and say that her catwalk blew me away. Despite the organisation of the bloggers and i can understand the enormous amount or things that she had to give her attention to. I couldn't imagine producing a collection, overseeing the runway premiere of it, whilst at the same time trying to allocate people stamps, answering questions, organising volunteers and prbably the other bajillion things that she needed to sort out!

To get to the point Sinead's collection succeeded on its own merit and i hope she's proud of it as she has every reason to be. I would suggest next time having a print out with instructions for Press/ Bloggers etc so that they know what to do and time and energy can be focused on the other areas such as the collections themselves.

this orange number actually made me squeak when it came out, but luckily for me others around me did the fashionable intake of breathe, so i don't think too many people heard it. This is stunning and this side by side with the purple number later on i could see any any celebrity for a big event.

sometimes i end up with just a little to much time on my hands and i get to be all arty, so i took the orange dress above and used Kromatik on the i-pad
ha love this colour so much!

For a lot of these my pictures don't give them the full justice they deserve, so i have done my research and found some of the professional images available from House of Herlihy to put alongside mine.

It may sound silly, but i would love to the see all these lovely long flowy numbers in an underwatrer shoot as i can just picture it and it would be amazing. Imagine the fabric swirling a high bun on the model and some waterproof make-up - Yowcher.

This time i had prepared myself and did the aforementioned intake of breathe along with anyone else, but did a quick check to see if my heart had started beating again. I may have to lose half my body weight to wear this out, but i could see that happening if a) i had somewhere to wear it b) i brought enough hairspray to keep a bun like that going.

Here's a promotional shot of the dress
 LOVE IT!!

Right that's all there is on this as i could go on and on, quite easily, but i won't.
Remember the site http://www.houseofherlihy.com/ and i expect big things from Sinead when she graduates.

I would like to say a big thanks to Carys Kaiser who was one of the videographers for the event for this great video she did. Her work can be seen on some of my other blogs and also on her vimeo account.
