Manchester Fashion Week is a coming

Manchester was born during the industrial revolution with it's name originating in anglo-saxon heritage and being known as 'Mameceaster' although this was changed to 'Manchester' in the 17th Century.

Always being a thriving community you would think Manchester would struggle to maintain itself, but if anything it is now one of the biggest cities in the UK. It is therefore no suprise that with it's passion for development, trades and textiles that it created it's very own fashion week to showcase talents of a mele of people. If anything Manchester is the place that won't let economic downturn stand in the way of the people's need, and in my case i need fashion :)

Manchester Fashion network, Manchester Fashion Week, Manchester... you seem a theme here right? Manchester has always beena  go to place for fashion with Boutiques, Couture, Vintage shops and basically a thousand places that create a wonderland of shops to delve into and create the look you have been searching for. However it is not only a place where people visit, Manchester is also quite the city for nurturing people's passion, which has led to some famous Mancunians such as Micheal Atherton (cricket), Max Beelsey (Actor), Judy Finnegan (Presenter),John Thaw (Actor) and The Gallaghers. Let's face it where would the world be without Wonderwall and the Sweeney?

With Manchester Fashion Week coming up between the 9-14th April i just wanted to point out why people are drawn to Manchester, it's more the people and the work ethic then anything else. That's not to say however that Manchester has no points of interests - see below

Beetham tower is not only the tallest building in Manchester but the tallest residential tower in Britain. I love this building because it reminds me half of an x-box in shape and also i wonder in summer if it shines like a disco ball?

As i said before Manchester Fashion Week is coming to town 9-14th April and it is safe to say i will find a way to get myself in the mix somehow. It's also an opportunity to wear my style as i see fit and get to watch catwalks shows such as Masato Jones who was one of my first pieces as a blogger (a whole three months ago can u believe it?) Caprice will also be there as well as companies including Boss Model Management. Obviously i will keep you posted as more information is released :)

So there we have it. Manchester in a nutshell. The place to be. I'm gonna say yes

Masato Jones

The next lucky thing on my British weekend of fashion peeps is Masato Jones. Originally from Tokyo he migrated over to good old brighton for a change of scene and went from having skills in hair styling to skills in Womens Fashion design at London's St Martins University. Now on behalf of everyone i would like to say 'good choice' as after being snapped up straight away by Giles Deacon he worked there until 2011 when he decided to set up Masato with business partner Mike.http://www.masato.co.uk/

This picture was taken at the CSM (Central St Martins) show 2009 where we get an idea of Masato's flair for shape and femininity.

Following onto his A/W 10  we can see that he understands how to dress to a flattering shape.

Skipping forward to 2011 Brighton Fashion Week we seem the same tailoring, but in my opinion it has grown to crisper edges, bolder colours and yet still manages to keep the feminine shapes and patterns that women love to wear so much. Masato received a lot of attention over this show and in a short matter of months will actually be the headliner of Manchester Fashion Week (which kicks off April 19th).

The A/W 11 looks equally as stunning on the catwalk as it does when photographed by David Hill Souch,
and shows just how wearable these designs would be. How easy the air of grace and sophistication comes to model Sophie and yet at the same time the knowledge of wearability.

The Pre-2012 collection has a nice urban yet jungle feel to it mixing animal prints with some bold clours and almost tribal prints to tie the collection together.

Photos again by David Hill Souch (well the man does take a good picture) and make-up by Hannah Ostrowicz and don't worry both of these people will be mentioned in blogs to come.

I expect some great and refined pieces coming up at Manchester fashion week @MCRFashionWeek and will keep you updated on the collections in the meantime @masatostudio @SHOOTDHS @HannahOstrowicz can all be found on twitter
